About Us

The Assassin moth has been instigated by Darren Schofield, who envisiged a competitive boat that was affordable. Darren has been a professional boat builder for over 25 years and has been involved in many high tech projects including the Americas Cup. He has worked at renowned boatbuilders such as Martin Marine, and McConaghys, and spent many years boatbuilding in Australia before returning to New Zealand. He has been involved with yacht racing all his life and has spent the last few years dedicated (or maybe addicted) to the international hydrofoiling moth.

During the design of the Assassin Darren has enlisted the help of several engineers and designers to get it right. They have worked closely together during the development of the Assassin and so far have had rewarding success. The Assassin is built In New Zealand, to an extremly high standard, and is being marketed under the name "Assassin Moth".
